It’s been a busy few weeks at Runway. We’ve rolled out several new features and updates aimed at giving developers more flexibility, transparency, and control. From instant plan changes in the dashboard, to built-in support for static site generators like Hugo and mdBook, to our commitment to EU-based hosting and joining the EuroStack initiative - here’s a quick look at what’s new.
You can now change your app’s plan directly from the Runway dashboard, as well as from the CLI.
Whether you’re scaling up for a launch or trimming resources post-release, plan changes now take just a few clicks - no support tickets, no downtime.
Of course, the CLI still works too:
runway app plan set -a myapp -p new-plan
This update makes it easier to adjust resources on the fly, control costs, and keep your app responsive to changing needs - all from wherever you work.
Runway now natively supports static sites built with Hugo and rust’s mdBook - no Dockerfile needed. Just run:
Hugo and Rust’s mdBook - no Dockerfile needed. Just run:
runway app create
runway app deploy
Your site will be automatically built, and deployed and served with Nginx.
As always, the docs have the full details.
Support for more static site generators is on the way. Using something else? Let us know.
We’ve launched a new page detailing where Runway runs - and why it matters. Unlike many platforms, Runway is hosted entirely on European infrastructure, with no reliance on Amazon, Google, or Microsoft. That’s a conscious choice rooted in our commitment to privacy, transparency, and digital sovereignty.
Your data stays in the EU, outside the reach of foreign surveillance laws like the US CLOUD Act. We’re currently live in Berlin, with planned expansion to Frankfurt, Paris, and Warsaw to bring our platform even closer to you.
Read more about our infrastructure philosophy, and regional roadmap on the new Location page.
Speaking of which:
Runway is now part of EuroStack, a collective effort to build more independent and reliable digital infrastructure in Europe.
The goal is simple: give European companies better tools that aren’t tied to Big Tech, and make sure core services - like cloud platforms - are built with sovereignty and resilience in mind. This aligns closely with how we already operate, and we’re glad to be working alongside others pushing in the same direction.
With those updates out, we’re now turning our attention to what’s next. Here’s a quick look at what we’re working on.
We’ve been hard at work on a redesigned Runway dashboard, and it’s almost ready for takeoff.
The new design brings a cleaner interface, simpler navigation, and quicker access to important app metrics and statistics - making it easier to manage your apps and more useful day-to-day. Whether you’re deploying a new service or checking logs, everything will be faster, clearer, and more intuitive.
We’re excited to share more soon - stay tuned.
