June 2025 - Updates

July’s already upon us — summer’s here, days are longer; time to catch up on what kept us busy in June!

Fresh paint everywhere

We’ve been deep in design mode in June, giving pretty much everything a fresh coat of paint. The account pages got some love, the app list is looking sharper, and we completely refreshed the app details view.

No words needed - sceenshots, or register/login to see for yourself:

Services now also show those first graphs everyone’s been asking about — everything feels new and hopefully a lot more intuitive. Still a couple things to do, but it’s getting there. If you haven’t logged in recently, you’re in for a treat.

CLI v UI?

CLI v UI — not a problem in our opinion. We’ve elavated the CLI tips: so definitely check out them out to see how what you’re seeing in the (web) UI connects to what you can do from the terminal.

Runway Mobile

Oh, and here’s something we quietly rolled out that you might have missed: the Runway UI now works as a Progressive Web App (PWA)!

You can add it to your home screen on your phone or tablet, and it’ll behave just like a native app.

Perfect for when you’re out and about and want to quickly check on your apps without opening a browser and navigating to the full site. We’ve been using it ourselves for a couple weeks and it’s one of those small conveniences that makes managing your apps a bit less of a hassle when you’re away from your desk.

GitHub and GitLab login

Runway UI: OIDC Login/Registration via Github and Gitlab On the authentication front, we finally rolled out OIDC support!

You can now login and register using your GitHub or GitLab accounts. We might add other providers later, but these two seemed like the obvious starting points.

The CLI integration is next on our list — we’ll be working on bringing this convenience to the command line over the next few weeks too.

While we were at it, we also updated Ory Kratos to its latest version. The whole process was surprisingly smooth, which is always a relief when you’re touching authentication systems.

We should probably write about how we use Kratos and why it’s still a fantastic choice for us — and maybe also what’s occasionally annoying about it, because let’s be honest, nothing’s perfect.

The billing situation

Now for the less exciting but absolutely necessary stuff: we spent a significant chunk of time evaluating our billing situation.

It’s looking likely that we’ll switch to a system that makes it easier for us to offer things like coupons and sales. It’s a bit of an annoyance since we can’t really skip this step and we can’t afford to build it all ourselves from scratch. But we’re taking some extra time to make sure we come to the right decision here — nobody wants to migrate billing systems twice.

What else?

The usual, lots and lots of updates behind the scenes.

FIN

That’s June 2025 in a nutshell! Half of 2025 already behind! Thanks for sticking with us as we keep improving things behind the scenes and in front of them.
